
Structural Steel Field Foreman
The Field Foreman is responsible for assisting the General Manager in overseeing field crews, equipment, and communication between project personnel, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and clients. This role involves supervising and mentoring field staff while also being actively involved in hands-on work, including tool usage, participating in punch list activities, and performing self-perform work on the jobsite. The Field Foreman plays a critical role in ensuring construction activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Quality Control: Ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout all areas of the erection site.
- Safety Management: Lead safety efforts on-site, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and regulations.
- Inspection Coordination: Coordinate and schedule inspections, ensuring they are conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
- Field Document Control: Oversee and manage field documents, ensuring they are properly maintained and easily accessible for reference.
- Reporting: Complete daily reports, including progress updates, challenges, and resolutions.
- Photographic Documentation: Capture progress photographs to document work completed and maintain records.
- Layout: Assist with the layout of structural elements on the jobsite.
- Client Relations: Act as the primary point of contact between the client and field staff, ensuring client satisfaction and maintaining professional relationships.
- Tool Management: Ensure all tools are properly maintained, organized, and accounted for on the jobsite.
- Contract Document Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of contract documents, including blueprints and project specifications.
- Jobsite Security: Ensure that the jobsite is secure and that only authorized personnel are allowed access.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote and support continuous improvement in production, safety, and adherence to environmental regulations.
- Employee Support: Provide guidance and assistance to employees in resolving work-related issues.
- Process Efficiency: Suggest changes to working conditions or equipment use to improve overall efficiency and productivity on the jobsite.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least five (5) years of experience in construction, specifically within the structural steel industry.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role, with strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Project Management Software such as Tekla.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to commute to various job sites.
This role requires a highly organized, hands-on leader with the ability to manage both the technical and personnel aspects of a construction project, ensuring the jobsite runs smoothly and efficiently.
