Key Responsibilities

Dry Utility Installation

    Assist in the installation of underground dry utilities, including:

o    Electrical conduit and duct banks

o    Communications and fiber conduit systems

o    Gas conduit, sleeves, and related structures

    Place and secure conduit, spacers, rebar, and concrete encasement for duct banks

    Assist with pulling, laying, and protecting conduit and utility lines

    Set pull boxes, vaults, handholes, and sleeves

    Assist with concrete pours related to duct banks and encasements

Trenching & Site Work

    Hand dig and expose existing utilities safely

    Assist with trench boxes, shoring systems, and trench safety

    Backfill and compact trenches per project specifications

    Assist with grading and site restoration

Equipment & Crew Support

    Work alongside excavator, backhoe, and loader operators

    Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and equipment

    Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment

Safety & Compliance

    Work safely around live electrical, gas, and communications utilities

    Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements

    Use PPE at all times

    Participate in daily safety meetings and job briefings

    Identify, communicate, and help resolve utility conflicts

General Duties

    Maintain a clean and organized jobsite

    Assist with traffic control and pedestrian safety when required

    Perform other tasks as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent

Qualifications

Required

    Ability to perform heavy physical labor outdoors

    Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly

    Comfortable working in trenches and around live utilities

    Dependable and punctual

    Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a crew

Preferred

    Prior experience in dry utilities, underground electrical, gas, or communications

    OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

    Trenching & Shoring certification

    Confined Space or Flagging certification

    Experience with duct banks, conduit installation, or utility vaults

Work Environment

    Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions

    Exposure to noise, dust, traffic, and heavy equipment

    Overtime, night work, or weekends may be required

Physical Requirements

    Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting

    Manual dexterity to use hand and power tools

    Ability to work safely in trenches and uneven terrain

    Reports to Foreman
