JOB SUMMARY:

A Superintendent’s role is to effectively monitor, direct, and coordinate the field operations of a single project and/or multiple projects in order to complete the work on time and within budget. To work together with the President and Project Manager to form an effective management team for our clients. Consistently gains the confidence and trust of others through quality, integrity, honesty, and a commitment to client satisfaction. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• College degree (A.A. or A.S. or B.A. or B.S. or similar) preferred or equivalent work experience.

• 10+ years construction experience.

• 5+ years superintendent experience.

• Experience managing commercial projects of $50K - $5M (ground-up and interior renovation) preferred.

• Experience in Healthcare/Veterinarian and Commercial markets. 

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

• Demonstrate strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions, submittals and engineering/architectural drawings.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with the ability to learn other systems/programs quickly.

• Experience with PROCORE Construction Project Management software preferred. 

• Ability to travel to projects in your assigned region, up to 75 miles.

• Flexible to work a schedule required to accommodate the demands of multiple projects, including evenings and weekends as needed.

• Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test.

• Must have a good driving record with proper licensing and insurance.

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physical demands for this position are heavy. Physical exertion such as long periods of standing; lifting of heavy items (50-75 pounds); walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; climbing stairs/ladders on ground-up/multi-story projects, dealing with varying weather conditions; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing or similar activities. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Operations:

• Oversee all phases of the construction process from mobilization through closeout.

• Effectively communicate details of the project with architects and engineers.

• Maintain project schedules, coordinate subcontractor activities, and successfully and timely complete projects.

• Coordinate with Project Manager on administrative aspects of the job site.

• Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager.

• Maintain a clean and safe job site, including regular site reviews and safety meetings.

• Review all contracts, drawings and specifications and develop on-site plans and procedures for implementation.

• Interface with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, inspectors, etc.

• Work with the Project Manager/President to assure work is consistent with estimates, procedures, dimensional control, equipment and manpower; keep them properly updated on progress schedules; and schedule delivery of materials and equipment.

• Ensure all necessary permits and other temporary facilities are in place before construction begins.

• Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, and punch list.

• Examine the contract drawings, specifications, and impractical details, and possible code violations.

• Manage site pre-construction including pre-construction survey, job site utilization, and staging plans.

• Oversee the opening and closing up the job site daily (first one on-site, last one to leave). 

• Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager/President to facilitate the most cost effective solutions.

• Ensure that all final inspections are completed and all trade permits are closed and finalized.

• Follow quality control procedures and requirements.

• Conduct safety meetings and responsible for overall site safety.

• Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the company including but not limited to self-performed tasks such as carpentry, demolition, removal, doors, hardware, and other common Working Superintendent tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and to establish and maintain effective and balanced working relationships of the on-site staff.

• Coordinate, direct and monitor activities of subcontractors, suppliers and company labor.

• Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify Project Manager and/or President, and recommend/implement corrective actions, as needed.

• Directly supervises multiple employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

• Coordinate, supervise and train all direct reports to achieve project objectives.

• Participate in the recruiting, assessment, and hiring of construction personnel.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
